NATO’s 2018-2021 Strategic Plan identified diversity and inclusion as a key objective for the association. In accordance with this aim, NATO formed the Diversity and Inclusion Committee in 2018. The committee is focused on three key areas: Expanding diversity within NATO’s volunteer leadership community; encouraging members to build a diverse workforce; and ensuring that product and service offerings are diverse. Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace: Case Study and Options for Consideration
NATO’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee is pleased to present a new member resource on fostering diversity and inclusion in the workplace. This case study report is designed to provide options for consideration and food for thought for exhibitors interested in improving diversity and inclusion within their companies in the realms of hiring, retention, and promotion. In conjunction with the report, NATO hosted a webinar on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 10 am Pacific/1 pm Eastern to discuss how exhibitors can maximize the case study and discover the best pathways to an employee base that is reflective of the population at large and that achieves greater diversity and representation. Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship
The Committee supported the creation of the 2019 Advisory Board Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship to build a pathway to participation in NATO, both at the committee level and in its leadership, for people who are currently underrepresented among the association’s volunteers, including women; younger executives; minorities; people with disabilities; and people who identify as lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender/queer+. The scholarship was awarded to a select number of NATO members to cover travel and lodging expenses for attending the NATO Advisory Board meeting in Beverly Hills on 23-24 September 2019.
