It
was the little magazine that could. In its six years, In
Focus magazine
garnered year-by-year increases in ad sales, as word-of-mouth
spread of its value. I was at my busiest last year rescheduling
advertisers (and booking many new ones) because we gave them
the best bang for their buck – a targeted readership,
a vibrant publication, an online Ad Index, and a number of
great ad spaces (including pages before the Table of Contents,
modeled after consumer magazines, which received an equal
amount of praise and objections). I’m very proud of
In Focus and all that we’ve achieved from the risks
we took to become a successful publication in the movie business.
People have wondered how only four individuals produce this
magazine. It’s our creativity and hard work – together.
And I commend our advertisers (and their
agencies and designers) for their trust, loyalty, collaboration
and confidence of
In Focus magazine – and me. I’m grateful for
you responding to my endless phone calls, e-mails, mailers,
faxes, promotions and reminders – and for actually
buying ad space in this magazine.

Kudos to the wonderful support of NATO, the great editorial
work of my colleagues and the professional talents of the
production team at The Printing Connection, who have made In
Focus a glossy delight to read every time (and saved me
a few times!).
Also, many thanks to Cargill Vegetable Oils, The Hollywood
Reporter, Lawrence Metal Products, Moving Image Technologies,
Nielsen EDI, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Releasing,
Techicolor Entertainment Services, Tootsie Roll, Universal
Pictures, and Warner Bros. Distribution for supporting our
annual Encyclopedia of Exhibition throughout my years at
NATO.
It’s been my pleasure.
