Jack Black, who jokingly invited exhibitors to party with him after the final dinner, displays his award for comedy star of the year.

“Garfield” co-stars Breckin Meyer (l.) and Jennifer Love Hewitt (r.) meet “Dodgeball” stars Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor. All appeared at Fox’s outdoor-barbeque-themed trailer event luncheon.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law, who appeared at Paramount’s gala dinner to promote their upcoming sci-fi thriller “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow,” were honored with this year’s distinguished decade of achievement in film and male star of the year awards, respectively.

For making more than a handful of exhibs dry their eyes the afternoon before during the screening of New Line’s upcoming drama “The Notebook” (tissue was wisely supplied at the door), male star of tomorrow Ryan Gosling offered no apologies (at least during his acceptance speech).

With a dais boasting over two dozen cast members from 10 upcoming releases, Paramount’s gala dinner offered a chance for actors such as Denzel Washington (“The Manchurian Candidate”), Samuel L. Jackson (“Coach Carter”) and Jim Carrey (“Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events”) to catch up.

Will Smith, who ran, crawled and leapt across the Thursday Fox luncheon stage to promote the studio’s upcoming futuristic thriller “I, Robot,” took a moment to pose with “Dodgeball” star Vince Vaughn.

Black compares bellies with fellow “Shallow Hal” star (and mom-to-be) Paltrow.

“Ella Enchanted” director Tommy O’Haver (center) joined the film’s stars, Hugh Dancy and Anne Hathaway, at the Miramax luncheon.

Jack Valenti, who summed up his 38-year tenure as MPAA president in two words, “I survived,” accepted the first-ever ShoWest and NATO medal of honor from longtime friend Warren Beatty.

“Something’s Gotta Give” director Nancy Meyers, honored as ShoWest’s director of the year, accepted a warm introduction from Keanu Reeves.

Carrey, who drew fits of laughter (and possibly a bit of genuine concern) from exhibs at Paramount’s dinner, bellowed the real reason stars like himself show up to conventions like this: “We all need love. Incredible amounts of love and attention.”

Actors Thomas Jane and Rebecca Romjin-Stamos joined director Jonathan Hensleigh to promote the new Lions Gate actioner “The Punisher,” which screened after the Tuesday opening ceremony.

Jennifer Garner graciously thanked exhibs and NATO for honoring her as this year’s female star of tomorrow.

At Sony’s late-night “Spider-Man 2” trailer event, Kirsten Dunst laughed as her co-star Tobey Maguire thanked exhibs for concessions such as popcorn and peanut M&Ms, which he admitted to wolfing down on the one day of the week that he allowed himself a break from the “Spider-Man” diet.

Nicole Kidman, touting Paramount’s upcoming comedy “The Stepford Wives,” made her way across the room to chat with Carrey.
