China To Install 2,500 E-Projectors
SHANGHAI, China – The
government-owned China Film Group (CFG) announced in February
plans to have 2,500 electronic projectors up and running
over the next five years.
Sources indicate the Chinese projectors
will not be true d-cinema projectors, but rather more akin
to low-resolution
e-projectors frequently utilized for on-screen cinema
advertising in the United States.
CFG general manager Yang Buting indicated
that 500 of the 2,500 e-projectors would be situated in
urban areas,
with
the balance earmarked for rural locales.
The new equipment will be capable of projecting
DVDs, as well as high- and standard-definition TV.
