What about you would most surprise the majority of your fellow exhibitors?
I’m a Civil War buff.

What’s the best thing about living in Knoxville?
High quality of life and low cost of living.

Leaving aside family members, who was your first role model?
Mickey Mantle.

What would you wish for if a djinn offered to grant one wish (assuming you couldn’t wish for more wishes)?
Great health for all my family and friends.

What would you be if you weren’t a cinema operator?
Music agent/promoter.

Who is your favorite filmmaker and why?
Francis Ford Coppola - He will go to any length to film his vision.

What was your favorite movie last year?
There were many good films last year like “Gosford Park,” “The Royal Tenenbaums,” “Monster’s Ball” and “Ocean’s Eleven,” but my favorite had to be “A Beautiful Mind.”

Which movie or movies are you most looking forward to?
“Matrix Reloaded.”

Who is the most talented actor most people have never heard of?
Chris Cooper.

Which book would you most want to see adapted into a motion picture?
“Ghost Soldiers” by Hampton Sides.

Which TV show do you hate to miss?
“The Sopranos.”

What’s your favorite movie theatre in which you and/or your partners have absolutely no investment?
Loews Star Southfield 20, Detroit, Mich.

Which sacred cow would you most like to barbecue?
In our own business there are too many to name.

What’s the best thing about running a cinema company?
Being part of a dynamic industry.

What’s the worst?
The never-ending disputes with our partners in distribution.

What do you wish someone had told you earlier?
Be prepared for the many twists and turns, some positive and some not so positive, that you’ll experience in life.

What was the single best piece of advice you ever got?
Never accept no for an answer.
