Allows $300 Fines For Exhibs
Philly Bill Would Ban
Kids From Night Movies
PHILADELPHIA – Cinema owners could be fined up
to $300 for allowing 5-year-olds into PG-rated movies
after 7 p.m., if a proposed bill is passed by Philadelphia’s
city council.
Introduced by councilman James Kenney and co-sponsored
by councilmen Rick Mariano and Frank DiCicco, the bill
would ban adults from bringing children under six to
a movie after 7 p.m., unless that movie is rated G.
Under the proposed law, it would be illegal for parents
to bring their offspring to evening screenings of such
PG-rated titles as “The Incredibles,” “Shrek
2” or “The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.” Violations
of the law could result in fines for the adult (up
to $50) and the moviehouse (up to $300).
